Beaver State Apartments, which is comprised of three properties, was recapitalized, consolidated, and rehabilitated in 2011 with funding from the IRC Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, USDA Rural Development, and other State Housing sources. Renovations included a major overhaul of the building exteriors, stairs and walkways, new windows, unit interiors, and accessibility and significant energy-efficiency improvements. With the affordability restrictions extended and secure, Beaver State Apartments offers families in Polk County at 50% or below the area median income one, two, and three-bedroom updated housing units (all with HUD Section 8 project-based rental assistance) as well as on-site laundry facilities, playground, off-street parking, and attractive curb appeal, all conveniently located near shopping, dining, and recreational parks.
